Our landlord, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, gave permission for subsequently opened in May 1989. As you can imagine, building on such an environmentally sensorial island surrounded by a marine park required a great deal of sensitivity both in the choice of location and the choice of materials. The resulting hotel, nestling into the hillside and built to resemble a cluster of granite cottages, has received much acclaim and is now accepted as a part of the landscape.
